      McCullough Racing News

The McCullough racing team had a busy past weekend. On Friday night David McCullough was piloting the #3 ISMA supermodified for his Grandfather Dave Hosie. McCullough finished 17th in the feature race. We had to call it short with mechanical failure and had to pull in. On Saturday McCullough was to drive the supermodified again along with the Open wheel modifed but due to bad weather the races were postphoned until Sunday. The gates opened at 9am with raing at 1pm. The open wheel modifed was at the track and preparing for the races. Practise was complete for the ISMA supermodifed cars minus the #3 super. The car was still being worked on. After McCullough's practise in his own car the supermodifed showed up. David McCullough needed to have the car started to warm the engine and then be ready for the heat race with no practise. The #3 came off the track early during the heat race as it ran out of fuel. These cars are fueled with methanol.McCullough was up next  in the Okes Auto, Hosie D's Donuts Ross Welding Hardy service open wheel modified with a ten lap heat race. The #39 machine managed to take another heat race win.Directly following the heat race David had to run to pit road to get in the supermodifed for their feature. There was to be a bit of a break but with bad weather once again in the forcast race directors decided to get the supers feature in first. The #3 supermodifed completed 9 laps before pulling into the pits with an oil leak. Next up for the team was the modifed feature McCullough started in the sixth starting position. On lap 15 leader John Saunders spun collecting  other cars with him bringing out a caution.. McCullough was able to advoid the accident along with the #1 car of Barry Newman.  When the green flag dropped Barry Newman would take the lead with McCullough right behind. The 39 was not able to get out around the #1 machine and would settle for a 2nd place finsih. Third place went to #3 Jamie Cox, 4th place was #54 Darrel Limon and 5th was #88 Paul Shipway.

The open wheel modifeds are back on the track this Friday August 14th at 8p.m. along with the late models and the superstocks.
